Childish Sims and Simmers rejoice; The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff* is arriving on June 28th, and it's all about giving those little rascals more to occupy their time.

A child Sim can put on a performance in the Puppet Theater to help with their social development, they can stoke their competitive fire by challenging their friends at the Voidcritter Battle Station, and they can go out exploring in the world to discover and acquire the new Voidcritter collection.


…hold on a second, a Void-what? Voidcritters! As the story goes, these cute and occasionally ferocious monsters are mysteriously appearing in your Sims’ world, and it’s up to the children in your family to capture, collect, trade, and train them. Voidcritters are a brand new collection of twenty collectible (duh!) cards, which can be battled against each other in the Voidcritter Battle Station. Each competitor inserts their critter’s card into this electronic arena, and the digital screen springs to life as kids attempt to button mash their way to victory while the battle unfolds. This collectible card game is unlike anything you’ve ever seen in The Sims before.

Children will also find the Puppet Theater waiting for them when looking for an amicable social undertaking. In another first for the franchise, friends and family will gather around as your child Sim puts on the performance of their lifetime. When the curtain rises, a variety of stories can unfold… will two friends lost in the woods make it back to safety? Will a monster with razor sharp teeth find living arrangements in a suburban family’s home? Will the dastardly deviant that stole a notebook be brought to justice by the school’s private eye? Five plays in total are unlocked as a child raises their social skill, and each one is positively adorable to watch as it’s acted out.


To complete the experience, we imagine you’ll want to do some renovations to your kid's rooms, as well as a wardrobe overhaul to set the right tone. You’ll find that objects are aged up in style from the primary shapes and colors that adorn the existing kid’s furniture; the content in this stuff pack helps children start to define their own space. Clothing is similarly expressive and unique, with patterns, logos, colors, and fashions that help tell the world who they are and what they like. Finally, what better way for kids to pass idle time in their room than listening to the new Tween Pop radio station, or watching the new BEtween TV channel.

For the young Sims in the game, or those Simmers who are just young at heart, there’s plenty in The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff to put a smile on your face when it launches this June 28th.

How do Simmers!
Just about the end of June… Summer is in full swing… what better time than now for a release?!

What’s New?
Did you see something? Over there... peeking out from under the bed. Not if you aren’t a kid!
Children however might find themselves awakened at night to the eerie sounds of a monster lurking beneath their bed. Fear not brave ones, a quick spray of monster repellent will get the pesky critter to creep away (you can also pre-spray like any properly working repellent).

But… why be afraid, when you can be friends! Children can spend a little time trying to get to know the bed bound beastie, and maybe make a new friend.
Of course, perhaps you just don’t want your kiddies to worry. Place “Coolala, The Defender Wall Light” to keep the monster at bay, and sleep tight, have a good night…. and know that the Monster Under the Bed is afraid of sunlight.

General Issues…
  • We fixed an issue that left our elders looking a bit more daw… er…ly morning of the dead than we wanted them to be… their age lines were quite pronounced. Elders should look less zombie and more walking alive.
  • The Days Until Age Up information in the Simology panel will now display no matter where you hover over the age bar.
    • Left side… right side… slightly off center... the Sims’ days are always numbered.
      • Do you think the Sim knows about their age countdown?
        • Do you think it’s Logans Run’esque, Terminator 2’ish, or maybe Paycheck’ian...
          • …not that anyone should reference Paycheck. But you know what, I liked Paycheck. There, I said it, and now you know.
  • "Eat" will no longer be called "Eat and Learn Experimental Food" on foods that are not experimental foods.
    • Also… quotations used "incorrectly" have been known to cause "confusion" and lead to the belief that "what the writer is writing" is intended sarcastically.
  • We fixed an issue with some assets that were incorrectly tagged as masculine or feminine, or that had their tags forgotten altogether. Specifically:
    • ymhair_Sp05LongFront is now tagged as masculine
    • ymTop_SP05Basic is now tagged as masculine
    • yfAcc_EarScoop is now tagged as feminine
    • yfBottom_EF10SwimBikiniMetalFront is now tagged as feminine
  • We fixed an issue that prevented Sims from being able to hire a mixologist to tend bar.
    • They are back, they are mixing…
    • …‘ologist’ refers to a person who studies or has knowledge of a particular kind of science.
      • And as much as I hoped… a tribologist does not actually study tribbles.

Spa Day…
  • Mud bathing Sims will no longer appear with random face paints.

Dine Out…
  • The hair ym_GP03SlickBackWavy will no longer have a bald spot on the back.
    • Implants are complete, all hair is 100% natural… no chemicals or artificial sweeteners have been added.
  • Net profit information will no longer improperly display when opening the View Last Finances report in your restaurant menu.
    • We fixed an issue that was causing the totals to add incorrectly each time the dialog was viewed.
  • We addressed an issue (Hello issue) that could cause restaurant advertising to have little or no effect upon the number of customers that would come to visit your establishment.

Get to Work…
  • We fixed an interface issue that made it appear retail stores would remain open when the Sim left the lot.
  • Patients should no longer reset when their doctor attempts to examine them or take their temperature.

After today's Update to The Sims 4, don't be surprised if you see something a little... monstrous... peeking out from under the bed. See, after we got the patch together, we started hearing that children from all over have reportedly been awoken at night to the eerie sounds of a monster lurking beneath their bed.

Parents claim they have no idea what their little ones are talking about, but have taken to humoring them by spraying a “monster repellent” around the bed. This apparently has done remarkably well at getting tentacled things to go away and keeping creepy things in check!


“It’s true,” say the youngsters! “Some sort of unspeakable monster of unspeakableness has been seen skulking beneath our beds!” Apparently the beguiling behemoth is only visible at night, and only to children. The frightened youth however are more than willing to fetch the nearest household member to help with their monster predicament.

However, some tenacious tykes have instead attempted to communicate with the slithering disturber of slumbers. Going the route of befriending the lurking leviathan with a kind word or two. Perhaps though, your budding offspring are not the “step into the belly of the beast” types… then your little sprout should plop the “Coolala, The Defender Wall Light” upon their walls, guaranteed to keep the ghoulish ghoulie away better than any apple!

So sleep tight… good night…. and know that the Monster Under the Bed is afraid of sunlight.

Leif. Barry. Lora. Finn. Ellie. These are the revered names of legendary Voidcritter trainers, masters of the five elements. Will your Sims’ children be the next honored member of this elite circle? 

They’ll have the chance to become legend on June 28th in The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff*.


Voidcritter monsters are the inspiration for a collectible card game that Sim kids can compete over – the first of its kind in The Sims franchise. Spanning five powerful elements (earth, fire, wind, water, and void) there are twenty monsters in total to find. While the more common critters can be acquired by ordering card booster packs from a computer, rarer monsters are better discovered by searching the world to see what you can find. Reach inside a hollow log here, dig through the trash over there… it’s all worth it if you have a hope of catching them all.

You can even trade Voidcritters with other kids in the neighborhood in hopes of landing a card that eludes you. In addition, each monster card has a limited edition foil variant that can be unearthed, and is totally the envy of every other kid in the neighborhood. 



As great as each Voidcritter card looks when displayed on a shelf, you’ll unlock their true potential by giving your Sims the Battle Station, an electronic arena where the Voidcritters come to life. Select the 
Voidcritter which will gain your favor in combat – as you train them and lead them into battle, their power level will increase and play an important role in determining the winner. When each competitor inserts their critter card into the machine, the digital screen springs to life as kids attempt to button mash their way to victory while the battle unfolds. Elemental attacks even leap out of the screen, enhanced by a child’s own imagination.

The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff News: Have Fun In The Sun

The days are long and the sun is bright; it’s the perfect time for your Sims to enjoy The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff*, coming July 19th!

Looking to update your backyard? Additional customization options for your outdoor spaces await, with bright colors and patterns adding a splash of excitement. You’ll be able to decorate with everything from spinning wind catchers to spitting frog fountains and scented flowers, all helping set a casual backyard vibe. When your Sims’ friends and family drop by for a cookout, they’ll be showing off their stylish new fashions as they sit around the new umbrella table that accommodates meal servings for up to six Sims. An assortment of comfortable clothing comes in vibrant summer prints, and relaxed hairstyles are available in natural and ombre colors.



While it’s great to look great, it’s the fun new activities and objects which make for a memorable backyard experience. First, you’ll definitely want to clear space for the Lawn Water Slide. Sims will flip out (sometimes quite literally!) over the fun they’ll have while sliding and performing tricks on a sunny afternoon. All that exercise can build up a real thirst, and the new drink pitcher will definitely help you quench it. Mix up refreshing recipes like lemonade, iced tea, and more, then pour over ice and enjoy.

For a rejuvenating experience in the backyard, you can sit back and tune in to the sound of nature all around you. Place the new bird feeder in your backyard, and you’ll be serenaded by the chirps of bluebirds, cardinals, and finches as they fly in for a bite to eat. You can add the new wind chime to your backyard as well for a soothing Sim-made melody. Choose from bamboo, ceramic, or metallic chimes... pair them together if you like, or even set the length of the rods to adjust the chime’s pitch. It’s guaranteed to be music to your ears (and perhaps a nightmare for your neighbors).


One thing’s for certain, there’s plenty of new fun outside for your entire Sims’ family to delight in when The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff releases on July 19th.

Happy August Simmers!
We’d like to share a couple of small this and that’s with you…
To start off with, a new…
Sims can now customize their cell phone covers!
Open up your Sims cell phone menu by clicking on the phone in the bottom left (just under your Sims portrait). At the top of the phone menu is a Change Phone Cover Color button. You can choose from over a dozen colors and patterns for your phone to give your Sim that extra bit of flair.
We also have a few issues that were addressed…
  • General
  • The blue pattern plaster wall pattern now has a name other than wall_V_Plaster03MPanels_Blue. It now shall be known as Patterned Plaster, the same as all of its brothers and sisters - Patterned Plaster.
    • You know if it were me, I would have called it Bob, give it some personality, make it an individual, someone who stands out.
      • “What have you got there on your walls? Is that Patterned Plaster?”
      • “No. That's Bob.”
  • Sims will no longer be woken from sleep to watch a show at the Puppet Theatre or the DJ Booth unless they were specifically called forth by the "Put on Show for…" interaction.
    • Are you an ‘er’ or ‘re’ type of person?
      • And, if I may be so bold, what would you show in your theatre or theater?
        • I’d show 80s SciFi.
  • The Grand Master Yoda styled look will no longer appear in the list twice for child Sims.
    • …although, if the Grand Master Yoda wanted to appear twice in the styled looks catalog, who are we to say no.
  • We fixed an issue where choosing to stop a custom music preview from playing in the options panel, did not actually stop it, but just lowered its volume.
  • We have, to speak plainly, adjusted the weighting and deformation maps for several Create a Sim assets in order to correct for holes, odd angles, and other visual oddities.
  • We addressed an issue that could cause Sims to get stuck in a hot tub after choosing to Woohoo, Mess Around, or Try for Baby, if both Sims had low hygiene.
Get To Work
  • We have un-hidden three objects in the Build catalog: Corporate Fridge Raider Revenue Generating Cooler, Still Ambiguous Lab Case, and the Galvanized Industrial Wall Pipe.
    • These objects were used on career locations, but were previously unavailable to the home catalog.
Kids Room Stuff
  • Children looking for discarded toys in the trash will no longer find themselves "discarded." They should no longer become invisible upon completing the interaction.
  • We fixed an issue that could result in the collectable Voidcritter cards appearing overly dark in low lit rooms.
Backyard Stuff
  • We addressed an issue with necklaces clipping into the neck when worn with shirts that were tagged as masculine.
  • The frog fountain now also includes the sound of water when it is spewing water.
    • Of particular note, is that there is no option to kiss the frog fountain, despite any hidden desires one might harbor.
      • Any attempts at kissing the frog fountain will result in no change, for you and the fountain.
        • It should be advised that if you do desire to kiss a frog, it should only be done if the frog is considered a close family friend, that you have long since been without…perhaps you were on an extended vacation to Fiji, only just now returning to see your beloved frog.
          • A gentle peck is then acceptable… with their consent of course.

The Sims 4 City Living is Coming Soon!

From Willow Creek to Newcrest, your Sims have enjoyed life in the suburbs. The yard. The jogging. The large, luxurious houses. Don't you think it's time they move somewhere a little... busier? We agree, and that's why we're happy to announce The Sims 4 City Living Expansion Pack*, which releases on PC and Mac on November 1, 2016.


The Sims 4 City Living is set in the rich, diverse city of San Myshuno, a beautiful coastal city tucked up against the nearby mountains. You’ve never seen a city like this in The Sims! San Myshuno is packed with things to do and new people to see. Whether you're playing basketball in the Spice District or meeting with friends after work at the Karaoke Bar for a raucous good time, there are new experiences around every corner.

Better yet, why not meet some friends and head to one of the new festivals? San Myshuno is full of dynamic street life, so whether you take a hot date to the Romance Festival, or geek out at Geekcon, there’s always something new to do. There are five different Festivals that can show up, giving you plenty to see from your apartment window.


Speaking of apartments, your Sim will need to find one once they move into San Myshuno! Apartments bring with them an assortment of interesting characters and quirks. Unlike houses, you're more limited in what you can do (the landlord won't be happy with you knocking out walls and building new bathrooms), but there's a lot of gameplay found in the few hundred square feet of your Sim's new apartment.

But don't worry, not everyone who lives in the city is wanting for space. As you work your way up through one of the new careers (Politician, Critic, and Social Media), you can afford a stunning new penthouse on the top floor! Penthouses provide a totally different experience, and we can't wait to tell you more about them in the coming months. 


We’ll be sharing so much more information in the near future. Before long, you’ll know everything there is to know about San Myshuno, apartments, Festivals, and more. Stay tuned and pack a small bag for the city. Your first apartment may be tiny!
